The Mods / Choir, along with The James Gang, were the top bands in Cleveland during the mid-1960's. There was some resistance in letting Eric Carmen join at first, because one or two of the members didn't care for his classical style ballads. Eventually a spot opened for him, but the band broke up. The four key members who became The Raspberries came from this.
ReplyDeleteThe Raspberries can truly be called the founders of "power pop." In my opinion, they belong in The Rock'n Roll Hall of Fame. Think about it - they rocked a lot harder than James Taylor and few others already in The Rock Hall and isn't that what it's all about??
