Todd Rundgren Presents Braille Copy of His Autobiography “The Individualist” to The Library of Congress

Longtime fan of Todd Rundgren Julie Dye attended his show in Cleveland on May 6th and presented Todd with a Braille version of his book “The Individualist” that Chelsea, her blind daughter, had made by hand.

As the first leg of the current White Album Tribute tour featuring Todd Rundgren, Micky Dolenz, Christopher Cross, Joey Molland and Jason Scheff was ending in Washington, DC on October 20th, Todd thought of presenting the book to the Library of Congress (specifically the National Library Service For The Blind And Disabled division).

A presentation at the Librarian of Congress Ceremonial Office was held the morning of October 21. Todd flew Julie and Chelsea to Washington to attend the DC concert and the ceremony the following morning.

The brief ceremony was held in the Librarian’s Ceremonial Office at the historic Thomas Jefferson Building of the Library Of Congress on Capitol Hill. The Library was represented by Karen Keninger, Director of the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled, Jason Yasner, Deputy Director of the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled, and Mark Sweeney, Principal Deputy Librarian Of Congress.

The second leg of the White Album Tribute tour resumes on November 30th in Pittsburgh.

Uriah Heep Lead Singer Bernie Shaw Teams Up with Fellow Canadian Songwriter/Musician Dale Collins for New Studio Album 'Too Much Information' – OUT NOW!

Uriah Heep’s lead singer Bernie Shaw has been working on a new studio album, in between the band’s tour dates, with his bandmate from the music scene in Victoria, guitarist and songwriter Dale Collins.

The duo has released an EP in Canada, however, it only included some of the songs they’d worked on together and was recorded many years back. This new studio album sees them re-record those tracks afresh, along with the other songs from their collaboration.

The album has Bernie working with same people he’d worked with on recent Uriah Heep projects, including sound engineer Steve Rispin, mastering engineer Mike Pietrini, graphic designer Mike Inns and label/copyrights manager Daniel Earnshaw.

The album is available as a CD, 180gsm LP, Download and on Streaming platforms. The CD is a six panel digipack which matches many of the recent Uriah Heep releases and back catalogue re-releases, so the album will look great sitting alongside the band’s catalogue in a fan’s collection.

No-one involved with the project can believe the release date of 13th September 2019 is 6 years to the day that the very first email was sent between them suggesting the project. It’s been a labour of love, with work completed as and when time and schedules allowed.

Of the album Bernie Shaw said: “This album has been a long time in the making as Uriah Heep still occupies almost 200 days of my year! But we’ve done it! l’m very proud of the end result. Working from two sides of the world is not an easy task, but the power and the energy of these songs shine through. I can’t wait for the reaction from both the Heep fans and beyond! Rock on!

Dale Collins added: “It’s been a long journey to make this album. Thanks to the thousands of fans who have followed the process and corresponded with me throughout. I am very pleased to see it completed.”

Hot Tuna Celebrates 50 Years of Dynamic Music

Hot Tuna finishes off 2019 with an acoustic duo tour framed by electric holiday shows as a solid power trio with drummer, Justin Guip. Guests Steve Kimock and Larry Campbell & Teresa Williams. Join In!

"It’s unfathomable how Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady make each show its own experience, but they do ... and effortlessly! Guitarist Jorma Kaukonen and bassist Jack Casady are without question among the greatest musicians; each has distinguished himself by developing a style that is easy to pick out and that others often try to imitate.

But more importantly, Kaukonen, 78, and Casady, 75, have over time forged a partnership that’s as vital to their art as raw talent is. The duo use music to speak a language they seemingly invented, yet cannily allow the rest of us in on the exhilarating dialogues."  – Art Fuse

Timeless Concert Images and 40 Years of Rock Concert Experiences

During his career, photographer Bill O'Leary took pictures of some of rock's biggest names at the peak of their powers - Van Halen, Rush, Judas Priest, Kiss, Ozzy Osbourne, Queen, Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa, etc. And now, he has opened his archives for the first time ever - assembling a collection of not only his best images, but also, offering stories and recollections behind concerts he shot over the years. Indeed, this book is comprised of over 175 full color, live concert images photographed primarily from the late 1970's through the 1990's.

Artists include...AC/DC, Albert King, The Allman Brothers Band, Anthrax, Blues Traveler, Bob Seger, Cheap Trick, Def Leppard, Dixie Dregs, Foreigner, Frank Zappa, Grateful Dead, Hot Tuna, Jeff Beck, Jethro Tull, Joan Jett, Judas Priest, Kiss, Marillion, Mercyful Fate, Michael Schenker Group, Molly Hatchet, Mötley Crüe, Motörhead, Outlaws, Overkill, Ozzy Osbourne, Pat Travers, Phish, Pink Floyd (The Wall), The Police, Queen, Rainbow, Reo Speedwagon, The Romantics, Rossington Collins Band, Rush, Scorpions, Slayer, Styx, Ted Nugent, Todd Rundgren's Utopia, Triumph, UFO, Van Halen, White Zombie, XTC, Yes, Yngwie Malmsteen with Alcatrazz, and ZZ Top.

O'Leary says:
"Hard to believe that I have been shooting concerts for 4 decades now, beginning in the mid 70's when I went to my first concert at the world famous Madison Square Garden in New York City. I felt at home among the walls of speakers and the towering lighting rigs, I also immediately knew that leaving the show with a ticket stub, program and maybe a t-shirt would not be enough, so I had to capture the memory permanently. Within' weeks I had traded my Sony home stereo system for a black leather jacket and my first Minolta SLR camera. After a brief learning period experimenting with the constantly changing lighting and vast array of colors, film speeds and the quick movements of the artists, I was told by many people that I was a "natural". I have always felt that "knowing" the music deeply and being passionate about it as well, really was the "secret" to capturing the "moment". With that confidence, I was soon shooting many concerts, 46 in 1980 alone. By then I was also being published in many major magazines as well. In the early days, I practiced "gorilla type tactics" to get my equipment into the venue's. Later, I was forced to play the game of securing credentials in order to shoot shows. All too soon, promoter and band management rules and demands on photographers began to take the excitement out of shooting shows. Then the " first 3 song" rule became common, NO more pictures after the third song. Pro concert photographers know that the "best" part of a shows production comes later in the event. In the end, I'm glad to have been a part of the glory days of concert photography."

FOREWARD by Freddie Salem of The Outlaws:
"Bill O'Leary has played an extremely important part in the rock n' roll world, as the consummate live performance photographer for over 40 years. As a professional musician, rock photographers are a part of the music scene - whether it be shooting promotional shoots, live concerts, or simply capturing life on tour. Bill first photographed us back in 1979 - a couple years after I joined the Outlaws, at Madison Square Garden in New York City. We were touring in support of our latest album, In the Eye of the Storm. Madison Square Garden is a big show for any touring band - as well as me personally, as a musician. A landmark venue. The following year, 1980, Bill again photographed me onstage - twice. Once at a Pat Travers Band show at the Palladium in Lower Manhattan in April, then again later that fall in November, as the Outlaws were touring in support of our latest album, Ghost Riders. This time, we were playing a smaller venue in Passaic, New Jersey, called the Capitol Theatre. Hundreds upon hundreds of marquis performers from all over the world have been captured on film by Bill - with the help of his trusty camera. I am surely anticipating the release of Bill O'Leary's book, featuring his life's passion and his iconic photography work. Looking at the thousands of live photos Bill has shot over the years one thing is very clear - he knows when to "pull the trigger."

HAWKWIND Collaborator MICHAEL MOORCOCK & THE DEEP FIX Release Third Studio Album!

As a novelist and short-story writer, Michael Moorcock stands with one foot planted firmly in reality and the other in fantasy. He has won and been short-listed for almost every award in the sf/fantasy world as well as in the wider literary world. The London Times named him one of the fifty best British writers since 1945. He scripted ‘The Land That Time Forgot’ film and his Jerry Cornelius novel ‘The Final Programme’ was filmed with Jon Finch. His much-imitated and most famous character, Elric, is currently optioned for TV/movies and the BBC have his Hawkmoon series under option. As a journalist, he has written for The Guardian, The Sunday Times, The Financial Times, The Daily Telegraph, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, The New Statesman, and The Spectator.

His music career has been no less laudatory. When performing with Hawkwind, Moorcock won a gold disc for Warrior on the Edge of Time. He has also worked with Blue Öyster Cult, Robert Calvert, Spirits Burning, and developed his own music project dubbed The Deep Fix. Moorcock’s long friendship with the legendary guitarist-bookscout Martin Stone (The Action/Mighty Baby, Savoy Brown, Chilli Willie) culminated in their decision to do an album together. They had grown up in the same town and had similar influences as musicians and readers. Both lived in Paris. The result is the new studio album Live At The Terminal Café.

Moorcock explains the genesis of the album: “Martin contacted Denis Baudrillart, the outstanding French drummer, and bassist/all-rounder Brad Scott and we rented a rehearsal studio. Eventually, the basic tracks were recorded in Montmartre and after that it was up to my friend Sean Orr in Texas to add fiddle and friend Don Falcone in California to perform his magic, adding Catherine Foreman and Jonathan Segel (Camper Van Beethoven), and our first psychedelic Country & Cajun record was ready to go. Like a lot of my music, it’s intended to complement certain books of mine, in this case, the ‘Blood’ trilogy set in Texas and Louisiana where the Earth’s polarities are reversed, with bizarre consequences.”

Moorcock wrote or co-wrote the 11 songs, sings lead vocals on all tracks, and also performed harmonica on two songs on Live At The Terminal Café. The album was mixed and produced by Don Falcone, who runs the music collective Spirits Burning.

Both the CD package and vinyl version include full lyrics, plus artwork by Walter Simonson (best known for Marvel Comics’ Thor), who drew Moorcock’s DC series ‘Michael Moorcock’s Multiverse’.
