The Road to Utopia, A Todd Rundgren Tribute for The Alzheimer's Music Project

The Road To Utopia, A Tribute to Todd Rundgren featuring The Gary Backstrom Band, comes to The Regent Theatre in Arlington, MA on Friday, June 7, 2019, to benefit

The Alzheimer’s Music Project.

THE GARY BACKSTROM BAND

The Gary Backstrom Band is a high energy, original, innovative act featuring the infectious licks and songwriting of nationally recognized guitarist Gary Backstrom. The band's music features clever, hook-filled songwriting and arrangements with intense interaction among the musicians. The band’s unique sound is exciting, unpredictable improvisation that can only be heard in the best live acts on the scene today.

TODD RUNDGREN
A Wizard, A True Star. The title of Todd Rundgren's 1973 solo album aptly sums up the contributions of this multi-faceted artist to state-of-the-art music. As a songwriter, video pioneer, producer, recording artist, computer software developer, conceptualist, and, most recently, interactive artist (re-designated TR-i), Rundgren has made a lasting impact on both the form and content of rock music.

THE ALZHEIMER’S MUSIC PROJECT
This performance, in part, is a benefit for The Alzheimer’s Music Project. Located in the heart of Western Massachusetts, the Alzheimer’s Music Project’s mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia by providing a compact, mp3 player, and a personalized music playlist of their most beloved songs and artists. Research has shown that familiar and beloved music helps to calm chaotic brain activity in people with Alzheimer’s and they’re more able to focus on the present moment and regain a sense of his/her connection to others.
