When the year long legal battle with his then manager Mike Appel came to an end, Bruce Springsteen entered the studio in June 1977 to record the Darkness on the Edge of Town album. He had been basically gigging non-stop since mid 1975, but now it will be another year before he completes his fourth album and hits the road again. During that period, he appeared onstage a handful of times during guest appearances with other artists. However on New Year's Eve, fans were treated with what was the closest to a legendary Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band concert. Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes were the headliners for the 31st Dec 1977 show at Capitol Theatre in Passaic, NJ. The New Year's Eve concert was broadcast live on WNEW-FM. Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band made an unscheduled appearance at the end of the show, joining the Jukes onstage for a few songs. Springsteen and the band then kicked into a 5 song set of their own. These include ‘Born to Run' and ’Backstreets' from their last album, The Righteous Brothers' first hit ‘Little Latin Lupe Lu', The Dovells' hit ‘You Can't Sit Down’, and Gary U.S. Bonds' classic ‘Quarter to Three'. All five songs from Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band's set are represented here in the best quality available - Eddy Wehbe
